How to Jump Start Safely

  • Turn off the ignition and accessories.
  • Connect the red clamp to the positive (+) terminal.
  • Connect the black clamp to the negative (-) terminal or a solid ground.
  • Start the engine. Crank for no more than about 5 seconds, and wait about 30 seconds between tries.
  • Once it runs, disconnect the clamps and recharge the jump starter.
