EBC Organic "FA" Brake Pads FA266 for Kawasaki

Worn pads cost stopping power and can damage your rotors. The EBC Organic "FA" Brake Pads FA266 for Kawasaki brings back strong, consistent braking.

Brake pads turn your lever or pedal into stopping power. They wear with every stop, and mud, sand and water wear them faster. Running pads too thin damages rotors and makes braking unsafe.

About the Organic "FA" Compound

This set uses EBC's Organic "FA" compound: an organic compound that is quiet, smooth and gentle on rotors for everyday riding.

EBC Pad Compounds Compared

EBC makes several friction compounds so you can match the pad to how and where you ride:

  • SV Severe Duty Sintered: high-density sintered copper built for utility work, mud and the most abrasive conditions, with the longest life of the off-road range.
  • Long-Life Sintered "R": sintered pads for performance trail riding and racing, with strong durability and resistance to mud, water and sand.
  • Sport Carbon "X": a cooler-running carbon compound for leisure trail riding that reduces heat transfer to the caliper and brake fluid.
  • Sintered "HH": fully sintered street pads with EBC's highest "HH" friction rating for strong, consistent stopping.
  • Semi-Sintered "V": a semi-sintered compound that blends sintered bite with smooth, quiet operation.
  • Organic "FA": an organic compound that is quiet, smooth and gentle on rotors for everyday riding.
  • SXR Side-by-Side Sintered: sintered pads developed for side-by-sides that see hard, high-speed use.
  • MXS Race Sintered: sintered race pads for motocross and off-road competition.
  • Extreme Pro Sintered: sintered pads for aggressive street, track and performance riding.

How to Choose

  • Mud, sand and utility work: SV or R sintered pads last longest in abrasive conditions.
  • Relaxed trail riding: Sport Carbon "X" runs cooler and is easy on rotors.
  • Street riding: HH sintered or Extreme Pro pads give strong, consistent stopping; organic FA pads are quiet and smooth.
  • Side-by-side performance: SXR pads are made for fast, heavy machines.

How to Bed In New Pads

New pads need a short break-in so they transfer an even layer of friction material to the rotor. Find a safe, open area and make 8 to 10 moderate stops from about 30 mph down to 5 mph without locking the wheels, then ride a few minutes without braking to let everything cool. Avoid hard stops for the first 100 miles. Proper bedding gives stronger, quieter, more consistent braking for the life of the pads.

Signs It's Time to Replace

  • Grinding or squealing
  • Pads near or below 2 mm of friction material
  • Longer stopping distances
  • Vibration or uneven wear

Installation Overview

  1. Check the fitment and position (front or rear) for your machine.
  2. Remove the caliper or pad pins following your service manual.
  3. Push the pistons back slowly, watching the fluid level in the reservoir.
  4. Install the new pads and any shims or clips, then reinstall the caliper and torque to spec.
  5. Pump the brakes until firm, then bed in the new pads.

Brakes are safety parts. Follow your service manual, and if you are unsure, read when to seek professional help or DIY or have a qualified technician install them.

Tips from the Witchdoctors Garage

  • Clean the caliper before installing pads.
  • Never get brake fluid on the pads.
  • Check the fluid level after pushing the pistons back.
  • Inspect pads after every muddy ride.
